September
is Blood Cancer Awareness Month
A Time to Celebrate and Commemorate Those Lives Touched
By Cancer
September marks the annual observance of blood cancer
awareness month, a time to commemorate the more than
747,000 patients in the U.S. currently battling blood
cancers. It is also a time to remember and honor those
whom have lost the battle. Every 5 minutes a person is
diagnosed with blood cancer, and every 10 minutes, someone
dies.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has provided more than
$424 million for research specifically targeting blood
cancers, which has led to important medical advances
that are SAVING LIVES.
The Rocky Mountain Chapter is currently funding more
than $1.57 million in research at facilities such as
CU Boulder, CU Denver and The National Jewish Medical
and Research Center. In addition, The Rocky Mountain
Chapter gave over $100,000 in direct patient aid to families
across the Front Range in 2004.
Your participation this month in Light The Night helps
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society continue the mission
of finding a cure for blood cancers and improve the
quality of live of patients.
Your generosity to our team members walking this year
is greatly appreciated.
The
